eye candy

fill in the blank Friday!

Lauren had the most link-ups ever last week - let's keep that going! play along HERE

1.   My Halloween plans this year will include  getting dressed up with Sean and our friends and going to a party at our friend's house. it's an annual tradition (even though I missed last year), so it's guaranteed to be a bitchin' time.

2.  My most memorable Halloween costume was  a brick house. I don't think anyone will forget that one!

3.  For Halloween this year I'm going to be  Cleopatra. :)

4.  I've always wanted to dress up as   Poison Ivy. once I'm confident enough to wear a sexy costume and grow my hair out long enough, it will happen.

5.  Halloween free association!    costumes, pumpkins, candy corn, scary masks, trick or treating.

6.  The worst thing about Halloween is        that it's always so flipping cold and I usually can't wear my outfit sans modifications - usually a coat is involved    . <--- I agree!

7.  The best thing about Halloween is dressing up! I usually start thinking about my costume way earlier than most people, haha. it's that exciting!

tidbits.

- this website has seriously allowed me to get through work this week without physically harming any of my coworkers. the only bad part is that I find myself laughing REALLY loudly at work, which totally gives it away. it's not a new site or anything, but I just started reading the newest posts, and therefore nearly peeing myself with laughter.

- I need a pair of brown boots to survive through the winter add to my ever growing boot collection, preferably leather ones, that are almost knee high. maybe even with a buckle or a cuff or some other cute detail. Sean says we're not allowed to do any shopping for ourselves until Christmas, which I find extremely difficult. if you'd like to donate to my boot fetish, I wear a size 9. in fact, these are perfect.

- speaking of Christmas, who has two thumbs and has just about completed her Christmas shopping? THIS GIRL. I only have two gifts left to get, and I will be finished! I really wanted to get a head start this year, so I asked around for suggestions early on and got that shit under control. I'm crazy when it comes to Christmas shopping, and I make myself an Excel spreadsheet to track everything. nerd up.

- I need a weekend of nothingness. we I have had plans at least one day out of the weekend since fucking JULY. seriously, I could name what I did, and every single weekend included some kind of plans OTHER than me being a lazy bitch and not leaving my house for at least 24 hours. I need a weekend like that, but unfortunately, it looks as though we currently have plans for every weekend until around December. (Halloween, Daniel Tosh, Zoo Walk, tattoo appointment, Penn State game, Thanksgiving, etc). not that I'm not excited about every one of those events, because I am, but I just want a break.

- I have a post that I started writing back in July about friendship. I need to add to it, without going into too much personal detail. I need to really vent and get some serious feelings out, even though I don't really consider myself to be a serious type blogger. even when I finish it, I'm not sure if I'll post it or not. I'd like to say I'm afraid I'll offend someone, but at this point, I really don't give two shits. not just one shit, TWO shits.

- I'm halfway through Pillars of the Earth, and I'm loving it. I can't wait to pick up World Without End. I also can't wait to get all the books I put on my Christmas wish list, which includes the Hunger Games Trilogy.

- it has now been 16 days since I became a non-smoker. while I was with friends on Saturday evening (and drinking), I bummed a few to smoke, but that's been my only slip up. the good thing though, is that they tasted disgusting to me, and I really only craved them because I was drinking alcohol.

H-A-double L-O-W-double E-N spells...

HALLOWEEN!

I love Halloween. it definitely makes the top 5 list of my favorite holidays. I always, always, ALWAYS dress up, and since Sean and I have been together, we've done some sort of funny couple costumes. let's look back, shall we?

the first year we were together (2007), we dressed up in this:

I was a brick house, and Sean was a brick layer. get it?

our second year together, we were this classic couple:

Pebbles & Bam Bam! I loved this costume. it was super comfy!

unfortunately, Sean didn't agree, so within a couple hours, he went from this...

to this (see him in the background?)...

last year, we decided to go the funny route again, and dressed up with laughs in mind:

we were a Shotgun Wedding, complete with pregnant belly, pigtails, & wedding dress for me and blacked out teeth & top hat for him. it was a huge hit at the party we went to! I made sure to drink plenty of beer and smoke lots of cigarettes, since I heard it was good for babies growth.

instead of dressing up as a couple this year, we took a different approach. Sean already had a costume in mind, and he wasn't backing down. he's being Jesus, which is pretty fitting, if you know us.

I thought about being Mary, but the costume was pretty boring, and I didn't want to invest in a baby doll that I'd have to carry around all night. so instead, I decided on a different historical costume. I wanted something that wasn't super slutty (that's totally not my thang), and still comfortable with fun accessories. so I decided to dress up as Cleopatra:

I'm pretty excited about Halloween this year, since we'll be spending it with a lot of our close friends. we booked a hotel room down the street from the party, and will be getting a taxi back to the hotel at the end of the night/beginning of the morning. it should be an awesome time, and I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to blog about next week!

_____________________________

are you dressing up for Halloween this year? what/who are you being? do you support adult celebration of Halloween, or do you think it's just for kids?

wee bit Wednesdays!

this week is Halloween themed, which reminds me... I still need to share my costume with you guys!
play along here!

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?
not that I know of. I don't really believe in that stuff anyway.

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?
last year! Sean & I were a shotgun wedding. it was definitely one of my favorite costumes... that pregnant belly looked ridiculously real. see?

{three} what’s your favorite candy?
Gobstoppers. I'm eating some right now.

{four} did you have a favorite costume growing up?
I was almost always some version of a cat. surprise surprise!

{five} did you carve pumpkins this year?
nah. I'm not really into that, and I probably won't ever do it unless we have rugrats to entertain.

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?
Halloween is my favorite (and my least favorite). it's old school, and it still scares the shit out of me to this day. also I can't watch scary movies without watching something silly afterward, because I WILL have nightmares.

{seven} haunted houses or corn mazes?
haunted houses.

{eight} are you superstitious?
not at all.

{nine} have you ever owned a black cat?
plenty. Pheobe is black & white. :)

{ten} what are you plans for this coming halloween?
we're going to a Halloween party at our friend Joey's house with a few of our friends. we even booked a hotel room this year so we don't have to worry about staying sober.

I've been featured!

I'm being featured for the Real People In Love Series today over at Love & Happiness! so exciting! I was thrilled when Nicole allowed me to be a part of her series, and it's even more awesome to see it live on her blog! it's not very often that I swoon over my husband, and it gives me butterflies to read it!

head over HERE to check it out! it's totally smushy and lovey, which totally isn't me normally, but what can I say? I loves my husband.

if you'd like to be a part of RPIL, just shoot Nicole an email!

Happy Wednesday!

but unfortunately, I'm actually expected to WORK at my place of employment, and I'm too busy cuddling with my cats when I'm at home.

see?

I know, I know. they're ridiculously good looking felines. be back tomorrow, for sure!

Zoo Walk!

you've heard me talk about her before.
her name is Kaycie, and she's one of my very best friends. we've been friends since we were 12 years old - that means that we've been friends for HALF of our lives. crazy, right? she's one of only a handful of people I still keep in touch with from middle/high school, and I'm so very lucky to have her as a close friend.
she's intelligent, has a great sense of humor, is super caring, and we're practically the same person inside.

except there's one very big difference between us. Kaycie was recently diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, and Hypermobility in all of her joints. she is almost constantly in pain from the symptoms of all these ailments, and she has spent countless hours at doctors offices trying to find the right medications to ease her pain.

I honestly don't know what I'd do if I were in screaming pain 24/7, and if I couldn't walk without having my hips hurt, and if I couldn't dance without my knees aching. Kaycie is amazing person, and she's fighting through this as best as she can.

to offer my support to her, I've decided to sign up for the 2010 Arthritis Walk at the Baltimore Zoo, which takes place on November 7th. Kaycie and her friend have put together a team to take on the mile long walk at the zoo, and I want to be there for her to support her! I've put together a donation page to send to my family and friends in hopes that they would want to contribute to such a great cause. I already donated $100 towards the event, and set my goal for $300.

if you'd like to donate (which would be SO greatly appreciated), you can do so here at my page. even just $10 makes a huge difference, as all proceeds go to The Arthritis Foundation, to work towards prevention, treatment, and the cure of the disease.

if you're not in a position to donate at this time, that's okay too! I just wanted to spread the love and reach out to as many people as I can, and I know the blog world is famous for rallying together during hard times.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
