Day 22/30

Day 22/30 - a website

I've been craving new fall clothes lately, so for today, I'm going to give you one of my favorite, albeit, more expensive (for me) clothing stores.

I love Buckle's clothing, and I would probably shop exclusively there if it weren't for their higher than my budget prices. they have SO many clothing items, and their accessories are to die for as well as their shoe inventory.

it wouldn't be a post about clothing without a wish list, so here you have my current wish list of fall items from Buckle.

Happy Thursday!

wee bit... Thursday?

a day late, but still participating in Leigh Ashley's weekly Wee Bit posts! I was actually looking forward to this post all day, so I'm glad she remembered to do it! :)

{one} what is your biggest pet peeve?
judgmental folks.

{two} what is your favorite dessert?
cheesecake, fo sho.

{three} what is the first thing you notice about people?
their appearance. I think that's the first thing anyone notices.

{four} are you usually late, early or right on time?
I used to be late to events ALL the time, but I'm getting better. I'm still late to work everyday. I'm pretty sure that'll never change.

{five} have you ever fired a gun?
yes. my dad tried to take me hunting when I was a kid, but I cried when he shot a squirrel, so that didn't work out. then he figured he'd just teach me how to shoot.

{six} are you right-handed or left-handed?
right.

{seven} which do you prefer: coke or pepsi?
neither, I'll take a Dr. Pepper.

{eight} do you dance crazy when no one is looking?
I dance like crazy when everyone IS looking.

{nine} what’s your favorite movie snack?
motherfucking Raisinettes. NOM.

{ten} do you scream on roller coasters?
I try to, but my throat drops down into my stomach and I can't, haha.

I'm looking forward to...

(shamelessly stealing this idea from Jessi over at Caterpillar Family Blog)

- finally getting my tattoo colored and filled this weekend. it's been a long journey to get this much work done, and I'm ready for it to be complete. I love this tattoo, and it means SO much to me. it's the place I grew up, it's my home, it will always be my home. I'm proud to represent Maryland.

- going out of town next weekend (October 8-10) to visit some extended family on my mom's side. twice a year, everyone gets together and makes apple butter - and I mean the whole nine yards... picking, peeling, cooking, churning, and canning.

I haven't been there for this event since I was a kid. I'm so, so, so excited to see my second cousin and her babies. we spent every single summer together growing up... running a muck and causing riots and just getting into all kinds of trouble in general.

she was a bridesmaid in my wedding, and I haven't seen her since that day, which was over a year ago! she has since given birth to her second child (little girl, Ella) and I cannot wait to meet her. her son, Peyton is so big now, and I can only imagine how he smart he is with a grade-A mama like her! I really just can't wait to spend some quality time with those that I don't get to see often.

- going to see the Washington Capitals take on the Boston Bruins on October 19th with my lova lova. football season is number one in this house, but hockey season comes in at a close second. I can't wait to watch the Caps play their hearts out this season! I'm hoping they continue the dominance they showed last season!

- seeing Louis CK perform live stand up comedy on October 22nd. we've seen him twice before, and he is HILARIOUS. all caps necessary. he has a show on FX (I think?) called Louie, and it's pretty witty and amusing, but nothing compares to the raw talent that is his stand up. he is, hands down, one of my favorite comedians.

VIDEO = NSFW

- my best friend, Kaley, is turning 26 years old in a few weeks! her birthday celebration, which is also being combined with Kath's birthday, takes place on October 23rd. they're starting with dinner at the Melting Pot (NOM!), followed by a little low key shindig at Kaley's house. I'm really excited to have a night with some of my favorite ladies, where nothing but good times is had. AND I'm thrilled to give Kaley her birthday present! :D

- H-A-double L-O-W-double E-N! Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love getting dressed up and hanging out with friends. obviously, we don't have kids yet, so we don't do the whole trick or treating thing, but we make sure to hit a few parties every year and celebrate appropriately! Sean and I have already purchased our costumes for this year, and while we're not matching like we usually do, they're still pretty great. I'll reveal what they are in a future post!

here are our costumes from last year: we were a shotgun wedding. :)

- seeing Daniel Tosh's stand up on November 6th. I've seen bits and pieces of his show, Tosh.0, which is pretty funny, so I'm sure his stand up will be good as well. seeing comedians live is one of my favorite things to do, so I'm sure I won't be disappointed. :)

what are YOU looking forward to?

Day 21/30

Day 21/30 - a recipe

crap. I just posted a recipe the other day and I didn't know this prompt was coming up right around the corner. son of a gun.

if you know me, you know my ass does NOT cook. Sean does all the cooking in our house, and he is awesome at it. he's always trying out new recipes and changing things up, and I love him for it. I mean, I wouldn't STARVE without him, but I would surely live off of Ramen Noodles and grilled cheese.

this is a recipe we introduced in our house a few months back, and it's still one of our favorites. it's super easy (according to Sean, haha) and absolutely delicious. the good thing about it is that it can be paired with just about anything.

[Facts]:
prep time: 15 minutes
cook time: 30 minutes
ready to eat: 45 minutes

[Ingredients]:
  • (2) tablespoons olive oil
  • (1) clove garlic, minced
  • (1) cup dry bread crumbs
  • (2/3) cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • (1) teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • (1/4) teaspoon ground black pepper
  • (6) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

[Directions]:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, blend the olive oil and garlic. In a separate bowl, mix the bread crumbs (we use Italian bread crumbs), Parmesan cheese, basil, and pepper. Dip each chicken breast in the oil mixture, then in the bread crumb mixture. Arrange the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish, and top with any remaining bread crumb mixture.
  3. Bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear.

I don't have pictures of this recipe, but it's pretty simple. the crust of the bread crumbs ends up being nice and crispy and the amount of garlic is perfect. we usually eat this with some kind of carb like rice or roasted potatoes and a fresh veggie like green beans.

enjoy!

random thoughts

my random thought posts are always popular, and I've sure as hell got plenty of them, so why not?

also. I may or may not have already taken my Ambien... along with a swig of NyQuil to silence my cough.

don't judge me. I need sleep. Mandee need sleep! you woke my sleep! I been sleep! (extra points for reference)

____________________

lately I've just been wearing my wedding band, without my engagement ring. I don't know why, I just took my rings off one night to put lotion on, and since then, I've just been wearing the band. I like the way it looks. it's nice and simple but still puts out the message of "hey motherfucker, I'm married." not that I ever really need to explain that, cause I really don't get hit on a lot. whatev.

I wish Mama Cat could be just a little more cooperative when it comes to taking her antibiotics. first of all, I have to give her ear drops... 4-5 of them... in EACH ear. not fun. and on top of that, I have to give her an antibiotic ORALLY every 24 hours.

this bitch is the biggest pain in the ass to get a hold of, especially when she knows I'm going to hold her down and force drops in her ears and pills in her throat. I don't know how people do it on a regular basis, I really don't.

I mean I can barely hold on to her strong ass, let alone hold her and THEN force a pill down her throat... which mostly leads to her spitting it back out and running away. luckily, she's taking a trip to the vet on Thursday for a follow up, so maybe they'll be able to show me an easier way to make this shit happen. or just wave a magic wand. that would work too.

____________________

I'm spending way too much time at the computer lately. I spent forever (yes, literally... forever) on Facebook last night and tonight trying to upload all those damn pictures. and now I'm here blogging about shit that doesn't even matter, all because I have the urge to write. does that make sense to anyone? I'm pretty loopy from the medicine I took, but I still feel like I have something to write about.

____________________

I am super pumped about this weekend. I'm driving out to Denton on Saturday to finally get my sleeve completed. I plan on bringing the Rebel so I can get some shots of Black Anchor's Tattoo Shop. I love the location of their shop... it's in the "downtown" area of Denton, which basically consists of like 3 streets lined with old ass buildings.

I can't wait to have my sleeve done so I can stop telling people "yes, there is going to be color" and "no, I'm not leaving it black and grey, and even if I did leave it black and gray, I don't understand this 'gothic' reference you're making to me right now."

yeah, that happened today. some dude my dad knew back in the day came into our office and was drilling me about tattoos... asking what each of them were for, and then said "so, are you into gotchic?" what? I don't even understand what that means. I feel like I should have been offended, but I really just wanted to laugh. I just said "hmm, nope, not that I know of."

I'm definitely not going to remember writing any of this tomorrow. sip on that.

oh wait, there's an unsuspecting Mama Cat snuggling next to me. time to give her the pill! yippeeee, this should be fun! see you bitches tomorrow!

tailgating fun

OU/Print Shop

I was browsing at Urban Outfitters today and noticed a new section in their Apartment tab called Print Shop. turns out, they've teamed up with Society6 artists and are now selling affordable prints (affordable meaning $25-$55... schwing!), which are created by numerous artists worldwide. pretty neato if you ask me!
