Thursday Thoughts

play along with Sar

[one]
Sean made me the most delicious salad for lunch. I haven't been eating so healthy lately, so I was really happy to consume something other than junk. way to go, hubs!

[two]
I visited my vet's office yesterday to tell her about the baby (yes, we're that close... crazy cat lady, remember?) and she had babies of her own! she had a kitty come in to be spayed and discovered that she was pregnant. new mama now has 3 itty bitty kittens to care for - they were 2 days old when I met them yesterday. so wittle!

[three]
I bought my Hunger Games tickets yesterday... for the midnight premiere. I've never been to a midnight showing before, but I am SO thrilled about it! I really hope it lines up with the book... I'd hate to be disappointed in yet another book turned movie.

[four]
there are only 35 days left until we are relaxing right here for 5 days.

[five]
I'm really sad about not being enrolled in classes this semester. when I found out I was pregnant, I decided to drop the two architectural classes I was registered for. I was super stressed out last semester, and I didn't think it was a good idea to add that stress onto a pregnancy. I miss it though, and I really hope I'm able to get back into the swing of things next spring.

[six]
I'm reading The Red Tent and I cannot get into it. I've heard nothing but great reviews about it, so someone please tell me it picks up. I'm only about 14% into it, so I know not to give up just yet, but I'm reaaaaally struggling with wanting to read it.

baby Q bump watch - week 13

[to be fair, this isn't really a baby bump. it's bloat... and whatever fat was there prior to getting knocked up. don't judge me.]

how far along? today, I'm 13 weeks, 1 day. this photo was taken yesterday morning.

how big is the baby? the baby is the size of a peach - about 2.9 inches long and weighing in at almost a full ounce. woohoo!

total weight gain: nadda. in fact, I've lost about 6-7lbs. thank you morning sickness.

sleep: dude. I've never slept so great in my life. if I could just sleep like this forever (I know, I know, it ain't happenin'), I'd never need Ambien again.

best moment of the week: listening to that little babysaurus' heartbeat at the doctor's office yesterday.

food cravings: lately it's been anything crisp and fresh - been eating lots of apples, which I'm thankful for. before now, I wanted nothing but JUNK.

food aversions: tacos. it's really the only thing I don't want.

symptoms: serious round ligament pain - it's down in the right side of my groin, and it hurts pretty frequently. I asked my doctor about it and she said that while it is lower than normal, it's definitely ligament/muscle related, so I shouldn't be worried.

I'm still really tired as well, and have been experiencing some slight dizziness here and there.

I think my boobs are growing by the minute. they are ridiculously huge. I think I'll have to go bra shopping soon. needless to say, this is the only symptom that Sean is enjoying.

other than that, the dreaded morning (slash ALL DAY) sickness seems to have finally left the building.

gender: we'll find out on April 5th. I think it's a girl, and my sono tech at my NT scan also thinks it's a girl. we have no preference... just a healthy baby, please.

most looking forward to: honestly? I look forward to waking up everyday knowing that I have a little nugget growing in there. there's nothing like this feeling of joy. /mush

what I miss right now: mostly turkey sandwiches and bikram yoga.

next appointment: March 23rd, which just happens to be my 26th birthday. :)

pregnancy journal [weeks 5-12]

like I stated in yesterday's post, I've been keeping a journal since I first found out I was pregnant. I'm warning you... it's a little long, and probably way mushier than I've been. here are some highlights. I'm keeping some of the entries private, since really, this is for me to look back on, and not something I want to share in it's entirety with the Interwebz.

12/29/11
today, your Mommy peed on a stick discovered you existed. we (your dad & I) have been trying for you for a very long time. we are very excited, but nervous too.  it's very early, so I have to stay positive and keep my fingers crossed that you continue to grow. we estimate your due date to be 8/29/12, which means that I am 5w1d along today.

1/11/12
we're 7 weeks along now, and we have our first (and unexpected) sonogram today. after following the advice of internet friends, I called the doctor about my intense cramping. the nurse immediately set me up with Anne Arundel Diagnostics and made me an appointment for this afternoon. I hope everything is okay in there.

we got to see you today! Mommy had to hold her pee for a long time, but it was worth it. you're measuring a day ahead of schedule (7w1d), which means that you are now due 8/28/12. you look like a little shrimp and your heart was steady beating away at 140bpm. Daddy teared up a little bit when he saw your heartbeat. we are already so lucky. <3

1/13/12-1/20/12
oh baby. you have been making me feel so sick lately. I'm not actually throwing up, but I have been nauseous 24/7 and have absolutely no appetite at all. the 18th was the anniversary of your grandmother's passing (your mommy's mom)... Daddy cooked a special steak dinner, but I could barely eat it. I can't really eat anything with flavor without feeling icky. your poor dad doesn't know what to do with me. I also ate my first prune this week... thanks for that, baby!

1/26/12
we had our first appointment today! they took lots of blood from Mama, which almost resulted in me passing out. we got a good look at you too, and you now look like a gummy bear. wou were wiggling your little nubby arms and legs... you're a showoff already, that's for sure. doctor says that everything looks good and that you're measuring perfectly. we discussed lots of different things, from medicines to take, to travel, and food I can/cannot eat. GOOD NEWS - I don't have to give up Maryland Blue Crabs this summer! weeeee!

here you are in all your gummy bear glory:

2/4/12
we had our photo shoot with Jessica today, and it was great! Daddy wasn't too excited about it, but I know when he looks back, he'll be happy we did it. It was a little cold, and it started to rain, but I know that she got some great shots. we had our first encounter with buffalo today too, haha. she sent us a sneak peek and I think it's perfect.

after the photos, your Grandma and Pop Pop took us out to the Chop House to celebrate Daddy's birthday. I had a big 11oz filet and it was delicious. it was the first time I had eaten red meat since finding out about you, so I was a little nervous, but it all went fine.

2/11/12
Mama threw her back out... we'll be spending lots of time in bed this weekend. I can't take any medicine other than Tylenol, so the pain is pretty bad. I've never had back pain before, so I didn't realize how debilitating it would be - I hope you're kind to my back when we get later into the pregnancy, cause this is the pits!

2/14/12 - 12 weeks!
happy Valentine's Day, little one. you are, by far, the BEST gift I could ever ask for, and my heart is so full of love when I think of how lucky we are to have you. I can't wait to see you on Thursday when we go in for our NT scan. if everything looks alright, we'll be announcing you to the public later that day. typically, we don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but this year, Daddy surprised Mama and got her a card... I'll show it to you one day.

2/15/12
I took my very first "bump" pictures today, even though there is no baby bump to speak of yet. right now, all that's showing is pudge and bloat.

2/16/12
just as we suspected, you are perfect. you were sleeping when we first saw you, but even while resting, your heartbeat is a steady 170bpm. the sono tech asked me to cough, and when I did, you stretched your little legs out in front of you and then crossed them again. your little hand was up by your head, so I think you may have been sucking your thumb (if that's even possible right now). while we won't be out buying anything pink yet, the sono tech took a guess and thinks you're a girl. she may have just been trying to justify Mama's guesses, so who knows. we'll know for sure on April 5th!

also, we announced our news on Facebook today. you are so incredibly loved already, little Quinn. everyone is so joyous at the thought of you, and that makes us so happy. I feel so much love for you already, and cannot wait to meet you.

a late Valentine post

Sean sucked it up and agreed to have some special pictures taken with me, to be used as our Valentine's pictures... he DID give me the best gift I could ever ask for...

we're having a baby! little baby Q is due in late August, which makes me almost 13 weeks along. I've been keeping a journal since we found out right before New Years, so I'll be sure to post that soon.

after TTC for over a year, we are absolutely thrilled that we are going to be parents! my body is a changin' like crazy already, and I'm so excited for what the future holds. <3

Thursday Thoughts

linking up with Miss Sar for some random musings :)

{one}
I finally made an appointment to have this mop cut! I haven't had anything done to it since JUNE of 2011. it's in definite need of some TLC. I think I'm going to keep my color the same, but trim the ends and add some more layers. still undecided on whether I want to grow out/keep my bangs.

{two}
I don't like the new actor playing Spartacus. I'm glad they're continuing the show, but I don't think it'll ever be the same without Andy Whitfield.

{three}
I have no idea who I'm going to root for during the Superbowl. I hate the Giants (Redskins fan), but I don't really like the Patriots either.

{four}
we have a little mini photo session planned with Jessica this weekend - it's been so long since we've had our pictures taken so I'm a little nervous. but Jessica is a fabulous photographer, so I know she'll work her magic. can't wait to show you all!

{five}
I may or may not still have Christmas decor up. no lights or tree, but stockings? yes. Christmas cards still hung? yes. talk about being a slacker.

{six}
I think Punxsutawney Phil is full of shit. it's 60 degrees here in Maryland today (and was yesterday too), so I don't see Old Man Winter hanging around for another 6 weeks. I'm sure I'll have my foot in my mouth when it snows next week or something, haha.

{seven}
I've read 6 books this year already! yeehaw! to be fair, they were mostly young adult fantasy crap, so I flew right through them. I'm working on The Red Tent right now, and it's proving to be much more adult, and therefore a little harder to get into.
